Notes: The flowers of this tree are known in India as Bakul or Vakul and they present the starting material for the preparation of Attar of Vakul. The large tree grows wild in northern and northwestern India as well as in south India.
Mimusops Elengi Oil is a pale yellow, mobile liquid of very delicate, sweet and extremely tenacious floral odor, somewhat reminiscent of orange flower and tuberose or the more well known stephanotis floribunda. A honeylike, heavy sweet backnote is quite persistent.
